  • Leaves
  • Weeds, tree and shrub prunings
  • Grass and Hedge cuttings
  • Short branches and twigs
  • Garden plants and vegetables
  • Fruit and veg peelings
  • Dairy products
  • Meat and fish products
  • Egg shells and tea bags
  • Cooked / uncooked food

The waste we collect is turned into soil improver, which is used to help make the district’s parks look beautiful. The soil improver can also be purchased locally at The Plant Plot, Stafford Road, Lichfield. For more information call 01543 262805.

What we can’t collect

  • Plastic bags or biodegradable liners
  • Cardboard
  • Paper – only paper that food waste has been wrapped in will be accepted.
  • Plant pots
  • Pet waste
  • Soil or turf
  • Large pieces of wood or branches as these are not easily compostable.

If we find any of these items in the green waste we collect, the whole load could be rejected and sent to landfill, so please help us to recycle more and don’t put things we can’t recycle in your green wheeled bin.
